Dr. Richard Sezibera was born on the 5th of June, in the year 1964 in Kigali, Rwanda. He was educated in Burundi, and Uganda, and graduated with Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degrees and practiced medicine for many years in Uganda and Rwanda. Sezibera was appointed Minister of Health in October 2008. Before then, he had served in many capacities in the Rwandan government including Ambassador to the U.S., Presidential Special Envoy to the Great Lakes Region and Senior Advisor to the President where he worked on peace and security, conflict management and resolution, as well as regional integration issues.
